When my father, John Todd, founded our companies, his primary focus was family.
Hard work was important, of course. Our family businesses became successful because of my father’s tireless dedication to gaining the trust of clients and earning a great reputation in the community. But as the second generation of leadership at our company, I realize now that his mission was to inspire joy in others.
Today, I recognize that as much as some things change, many things also stay the same. Just as it was in 1974 when my father started Todd’s Tree Service, the foundation of this business continues to be love. We are committed to our employees first and foremost. Many of those employees have been with us for 20 or more years, and now have families of their own, which means we are always growing. We provide opportunity and security, which is far more impactful than simply offering employment.
When I took the helm at The Todd Group, I started hosting family picnics every fall. We are a work family and I want us to know one another’s families as well. This annual celebration has become something we all look forward to that fosters friendships outside of our day-to-day interactions.
We believe in creating long-lasting relationships just as much as creating timeless outdoor spaces. Certainly, our longevity plays into this, but we have had many of the same clients for decades. Families whose parents worked with The Todd Group when we were called Statile & Todd, know us and continue to trust us to create places where they can make memories with their families.
Finally, The Todd Group believes in giving back to our community. This year we have partnered with the Jillian Fund, which provides financial support to parents with children who are suffering life-threatening illnesses that require critical care. This organization was founded by a friend of The Todd Group. Their mis- sion resonates with us and we’re happy to offer them our support and know the importance of having a parent by your side.
This holiday season, may you embrace the special moments, focus on what really matters, and remember that family is a gift.
